Description

Little Bird Cast Iron Supplement is a simple way to add iron to everyday cooking. Made from cast iron in southern Iwate Prefecture, a region renowned for its ironware, this charming bird-shaped tool releases iron when simmered in water, soup, or other foods. Simply place it in a pot or kettle while heating, then remove it when finished.

Its compact shape fits easily into smaller pots and kettles, while two holes in the tail make it easy to lift out using a pair of chopsticks. Beyond everyday cooking, this traditional Japanese kitchen tool can be added to a nukadoko (rice bran pickling bed) to help vegetables retain their vibrant color or used when simmering kuromame (black soybeans) for a dark, glossy finish.

Easy to use and thoughtfully designed, the Little Bird Cast Iron Supplement combines practical function with the charm of Japanese kitchenware. Its small bird form makes an everyday cooking tool feel just a little more delightful.

FAQ

Can I add a gift message to my order?

Yes. You may add a personalized gift message of up to 250 characters at checkout — it is printed on a card and included inside the package. Prices and order details are never shown on the card or anywhere in the shipment, so the recipient sees only your message and the gift itself.

Will my order be wrapped as a gift?

Yes. Every JOC Goods order is wrapped in a traditional Japanese furoshiki cloth before shipping at no extra charge — both gifts and personal orders. If your order includes many or large items, the furoshiki may be packed inside the box rather than wrapped around them. Prices are never included in any shipment.
