Founded in 1950 on Sado Island, Niigata Prefecture, Honma Kazuo Shoten carries on the island’s long tradition of straw and bamboo craft. Known for its handwoven trivets made from locally harvested Koshihikari rice straw, the workshop also creates simple, functional pieces for everyday use. Each piece deepens in color and character over time, reflecting the warmth of handmade work and Japan’s enduring connection between craft and daily life.
